Dessa Somerside, MPH, MSW

Dessa applies her background in systems dynamics to critically evaluate and develop solutions to social issues. She has worked in child welfare, maternal and child health and nutrition, and economic and social development in over ten countries. Dessa moved back to St. Louis after working for the UN World Food Programme as an International Leland Hunger Fellow in Cambodia. She is now the Chief Operating Officer for Ariel Foods FZE, which produces a life-saving therapeutic food product for malnourished children in Africa. Dessa received her bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from Boston University, and Masters degrees in Public Health and Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis in 2013.
