Kickstarter Journey

Four years ago, we got the idea to make our first book. We didn’t know how to build it, market it, or distribute it. We didn’t know how to tell it or sell it. We definitely didn’t know how to afford it or who would help us fund it. But we knew there were thousands of stories we had already told. And that they were still timely and relevant with so much more life in them beyond the playtime they have online until they came buried in the feed.

We put together a local talent team of creatives, crafted a creative brief that became our North star, set a budget, developed a timeline — *well, multiple timelines ⏳🙈* — ran a successful three-week Kickstarter in which the community straight up infused the project — *massive colossal shout out to the 445 of you whose pledged $34,507 to make that happen* — and from there we began drafting the story sequence.
